Me apressei, todavia fostes mais célere. 
Teus vestidos brancos já reluziam soberanos quando te encontrei. 
Feliz de mim que somos velhas amigas e tu me destes o prazer de sentar-me no escabelo de teus pés e apreciar tua beleza solene, galgando os céus em busca de teus quatro obedientes filhos.. 
Agradeço-te eterna amiga pela brisa suave que me enviastes, por meio de teus meninos.,

pra ver se ela acha o prumo, 
encontra a bússola, 
e me remete ao norte, 
seguindo ventos nordestes, 
vindos do leste, 
pelos caminhos do sul.

É necessário tempo, gesto e muita paciência, para entendermos a importância dos momentos que vivemos. 
Tempo pra sentirmos essencialmente o momento ido. 
Gesto para que possamos ter o momento vivido. 
Paciência para percebermos que tempo e gesto um dia se fundem. 
Então, percebemos todas as lembranças, de uma memória extremamente seletiva. 
Sim, só lembramos o que nos interessa imensamente, 
porque assim nos mantemos vivos além do tempo real, 
pois a lembrança nos remete a uma saudade imanente.
Nesse tempo, desse gesto é que eu me fiz paciente. 
E são essas lembranças que me tornam tão intensa hoje, 
querendo reter as sensações que emanam dos gestos ofertados por todos.
Quero essa eterna sensação de me remeter no tempo, 
compactuando gestos, por vezes dispersos, 
sempre intensos e nem sempre descompromissados, 
que alimentam minha alma de uma intensidade incomensurável.
Que a vida me seja assim: 
paciente e emergente em gestos e tempos.

Hogwarts is divided into four houses, each bearing the last name of its founder: Godric GryffindorSalazar SlytherinRowena Ravenclaw and Helga Hufflepuff. The houses compete throughout the school year, by earning and losing points for various events, for the House Cup (correctly answering a question in class, for example, may earn five or ten points; lateness to class may cost ten points). Each house also has its own Quidditch team that competes for the Quidditch Cup. These two competitions breed rivalries between the houses. Houses at Hogwarts are living and learning communities for their students. Each house is under the authority of one of the Hogwarts staff members. The Heads of the houses, as they are called, are in charge of giving their students important information, dealing with matters of severe punishment, and responding to emergencies in their houses, among other things. Each year, year level groups of every separate house share the same dormitory and classes. The dormitory and common room of a House are, barring rare exceptions, inaccessible to students belonging to other Houses.
In the early day of Hogwarts, the four founders hand-picked students for their Houses. When the founders worried how students would be selected after their deaths, Godric Gryffindor took his hat off and they each added knowledge to it, allowing the Sorting Hat to choose the students by judging each student's qualities and placing them in the most appropriate house. The student's own choices may affect the decision: the clearest example is the Hat telling Harry that he would do well in Slytherin in the first book, but ultimately selecting Gryffindor after Harry asks it not to put him in Slytherin.

O INIMIGO - MONTEIRO LOBATO



O inimigo

Muito se há dito contra a nossa república, mas para sermos justiceiros é mister não lhe neguemos os benefícios que trouxe. E trouxe-os, incontestavelmente. Há o estado de sítio permanente, há a dilapidação permanente, há o desastre da Central permanente, há o déficit permanente, há a seleção às avessas permanente. São erros, e só os erros dão na vista. Os acertos, esses permanecem ignorados. Gozamo-nos dos seus benefícios, esquecidos de exaltá-los e lançá-los num dos pratos da balança onde se pesam os crimes da república.
Entre esses acertos profundamente benéficos está o modo de proceder republicano em relação ao livro.
Como todo o mundo sabe, o livro é o causador de todas as desgraças que derrancam o homem moderno. Antes que Gutenberg inventasse o meio de pôr o livro ao alcance de toda a gente, a vida do homem no mundo era edênica.
Um rei em cima, uma corte em redor, plebe infinita em baixo e o carrasco de permeio. O rei queria, a corte dizia amém, a plebe executava. O carrasco mantinha a ordem da maneira mais eficiente, cortando a cabeça dos díscolos, enforcando-os ou assando-os vivos.
Mas veio o livro e toda esta bela organização desabou. Os homens deram de instruir-se, descreram do direito divino dos reis e dos sagrados privilégios da corte. O papa deixou de ser o dono das consciências e viu sua fogueira depuradora reduzida a tições extintos. O rei teve que submeter-se a delegações chamadas parlamentos e virou rei de baralho. A plebe folgou. Abriu os olhos e convenceu-se de que também era gente.
Isto foi bom para a plebe, porém péssimo para o papa, para o rei e para os valetes. Tivessem eles adivinhando as conseqüências da humilde invenção de Gutenberg e assá-lo-iam numa boa fogueira com todos os seus tipos de pau antes que a peste da cultura, que vai com os livros, se propagasse pelo mundo. Não se mostraram avisados, não acudiram a tempo e a conseqüência foi o que estamos vendo. O livro multiplicou-se e envenenou a humanidade com “a doença que abre os olhos”.
Aqui no Brasil começou essa doença a disseminar-se, como nefasta gripe, em virtude de termos por 50 anos um chefe de estado que sabia ler e era amigo dos livros. Esse mau homem favoreceu a propaganda da peste e acabou vitimado por ela: a república veio como conseqüência da difusão do livro entre nós.
A república, porém, logo que se pilhou instalada, reconheceu o perigo do livro e tratou de sufocá-lo. Como? Onerando de impostos proibitivos a matéria prima do livro, o papel. Quis assim precaver-se, e mui sabiamente, contra a peste que matara a monarquia e podia também pô-la de catrâmbias. E o vai conseguindo. Há quase 40 anos que a república subsiste talvez graças à sábia taxação que mantém asfixiado o gérmen letal. Eis, pois, uma das benemerências da república que valem por contrapeso dos muitos males que nos trouxe.
Essa abençoada guerra ao livro, inteligentemente surda para que não dê na vista do espírito liberal (que é a desgraça dos povos), intensifica-se de ano para ano com muito bons resultados. Criam-se aumentos progressivos de impostos contra a odiosa matéria prima, além de embaraços alfandegários que acabarão desanimando os seus petroleiros importadores. E neste andar chegaremos ao objetívo visado: tornar o livro só acessível aos ricos, gente comodista que não faz revoluções porque para eles tudo vai pelo melhor, no melhor dos mundos possíveis. No dia em que o livro for de vez arredado das mãos da plebe, a vitória republicana estará completa. Fica outra vez o rei em cima (tenha o nome que tiver), os valetes e damas em torno e a plebe em baixo, cavando a terra de sol a sol, sem caraminholas na cabeça, sem pensar em seus irrisórios direitos, reivindicações e outras bobagens.
No momento atual o papel para livro paga de direitos o “dobro do custo”. Já é alguma coisa, pois que já afasta o livro de três partes da população. A experiência, porém, demonstra que se um quarto do país ainda pode ler, continua o perigo. Cumpre ao Estado elevar o imposto ao triplo, e mesmo ao quíntuplo, se a triplicagem for insuficiente. Com um pouco mais de boa vontade lá chegaremos, para felicidade nossa.
Outra medida profilática muito sábia que o governo republicano tomou contra o livro foi a instituição dum protecionismo às avessas, de modo que a “indústria editora nacional não possa concorrer com a portuguesa”. Livro e papel impresso. Se o papel vem de fora em branco para ser impresso aqui paga, como dissemos, o “dobro do custo”; mas se já vem feito da Metrópole goza de “absoluta isenção de direitos”. Este protecionismo, instituído por D. Maria I quando mandou destruir os prelos do Brasil colônia, foi restaurado pelo governo republicano sob o hábil disfarce de favorecer o intercâmbio com a Metrópole, intercâmbio, está claro, que não existe nem pode existir.
Foi um golpe de mestre. A concorrência tornou-se impossível, porque não há concorrência possível quando o protecionismo intervém a favor de uma das partes.
Mas, dirão, tudo é livro, venha da Metrópole ou seja feito aqui na colônia. Logo a república não é de todo infensa ao livro.
Sim, mas os livros que nos vêm da Metrópole são livros estrangeiros, que não estudam as nossas coisas, que não gritam, que não petrolizam, que não esperneiam. Inócuos, portanto. Dum róseo cosmético de Júlio Dantas virá uma dose maior de gravatas ao caixeirinho da esquina — idéia nenhuma; mas dum livro indígena de Oliveira Viana ou José Oiticica podem vir idéias e isso, é o diabo.
Alta sabedoria, portanto, demonstra a colônia em manter a avisada lei de D. Maria I. Dos males o menor. Cosmético perfumado, sim. Idéias, nunca. É de cedo que se torcem os pepinos. Se a França tivesse queimado vivos os Elzevires e outros difundidos da peste gráfica, não andariam hoje as estantes cheias desse nefasto Anatole France, que sorri de Jeová, dos reis e dos valetes. País novo que somos é mister que tudo se faça para que jamais prolifere aqui a raça maldita dos que duvidam. E o meio é esse: taxar inda mais o livro, favorecer inda mais o protecionismo à indústria editora da Metrópole contra a sua rival da colônia.
Diz Antônio Torres que em Minas o povo inda não está convencido de que D. Maria I morreu. Supõe-na ainda no trono, velhinha, mas tesa.
Minas pensa muito bem, e a nossa felicidade está em sermos por ela governados.

MARTIN LUTHER KING - I HAVE A DREAM !



I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.
Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.
But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. And so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.
In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."
But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.
We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.
It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. And there will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.
But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.
The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.
We cannot walk alone.
And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.
We cannot turn back.
There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their self-hood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating: "For Whites Only." We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until "justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream."¹
I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. And some of you have come from areas where your quest -- quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed.
Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.
And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today!
I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification" -- one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.
I have a dream today!
I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together."2
This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go back to the South with.
With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.
And this will be the day -- this will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning:
My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim's pride,
From every mountainside, let freedom ring!
And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.
And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.
Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.
Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.
Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.
Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.
But not only that:
Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.
Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.
Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.
From every mountainside, let freedom ring.
And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:
Free at last! Free at last!
Thank God Almighty, we are free at last !

I was 21 when I set off to live in the frontier town of Peshawar to report on the war in Afghanistan, and I had absolutely no idea what foreign correspondents needed -- or did for that matter. I could hardly carry my suitcase, which contained lots of novels including a dog-eared copy of Rudyard Kipling's Kim, a supply of wine gums, a bottle of Chanel perfume, Mahler's Fifth, and a pink felt rabbit. I will never forget getting off the Flying Coach in the old city just as the sun was setting, struggling with this oversized case, and being surrounded by rickshaws honking and people trying to sell me things, and realizing I didn't have a clue where I was going to stay.”
