SHAKESPEARE

SONETO CXIX

Benefício do mal ! Agora persuadido,

" Ripeness is all "

" Ripeness is all. "

" Maturità è tutto. "

" Maturidade é tudo . "

Shakespeare,
King Lear, atto V, scena II.

King Lear

Act V. Scene II.

A Field between the two Camps.

Alarum within.  Enter, with drum and colours, LEAR,CORDELIA, and their Forces; and exeunt.  Enter EDGAR andGLOUCESTER.

Edg.  Here, father, take the shadow of this tree

For your good host; pray that the right may thrive.

If ever I return to you again,
        5
I’ll bring you comfort.

Glo.        Grace go with you, sir!  [Exit EDGAR.

Alarum; afterwards a retreat.  Re-enter EDGAR.

Edg.  Away, old man! give me thy hand: away!

King Lear hath lost, he and his daughter ta’en.
        10
Give me thy hand; come on.

Glo.  No further, sir; a man may rot even here.

Edg.  What. in ill thoughts again? Men must endure

Their going hence, even as their coming hither:

Ripeness is all. Come on.
        15
Glo.        And that’s true too.  [Exeunt.

" Talvez sonhar ! " Shakespeare

"Ser ou não ser, eis a questão !
.....
....
....
Talvez sonhar ! Sim, eis aí a dificuldade !
ultrajes e desdéns do tempo, a injúria do opressor,
a afronta do soberbo, as angústias do amor desprezado,
.....
....
....
Agora Silencio ! ....
A bela Ofélia !

Hamlet Ato III, cena 1

SHAKESPEARE

SONET CXIX

What potions have I drunk of Siren tears
Distill'd from limbecks foul as hell within.
Applying fears to hopes, and hopes to fears,
Still losing when I saw myself to win ?

What wretched errors hath my heart commited,
Whilst it hath thought itself so blessed never ?
How have mine eyes out of their spheres been fitted
In the distraction of this madding fever ?

O benefit of ill, now I find true
That better is, by evil still made better.
And ruin'd love when it is built a new

Grows fairer than at first, more strong, far greater.
So I return rebuck'd to my content,
And gain by ills thrice more than I have spent.
